Look at those young folks… September 2002

Last month we celebrated 15 years of marriage.  I have always felt there are certain anniversaries that hold higher regard than others.  I guess I’d call them milestones!

Maybe I think 15 was monumental because we met and married later in life. 🙂

The 15 years flew by because we got through two teen girls in the home,  building a house while we both worked full time, the girl’s marriages, an addition of a third daughter in 2008  and now a total of five grandchildren to call family.

This is reality of trying to get a photo with them all. 🙂 Pure bliss I tell ya!

There was a great deal more that happened in those 15 years but those are a few of the most precious treasures!

“Our People” Love them more than they will ever know!

Like most marriages we have had some pretty dark times but some pretty bright moments too.  Our marriage isn’t any more spectacular than anyone else’s but it is uniquely ours.  Just as I can not duplicate another farm wife, no one can have what Milton & I do.  I guess that is what marriage is about  sort of.  Making it yours and creating a combination with times of distress and hurt and sprinkled with love and respect.

When I witness Milton with one of our grandchildren it really does make my heart soar.  He helps our older children with construction needs on their own homes and that is truly a fatherly act.  The lessons he teaches our youngest daughter about nature, farming, and just stuff in general makes her one lucky girl. So glad I get to witness it!

Best photos are the ones you didn’t know were coming.

I’m sure if he were a man of many words, verses few words, he would have some nice stuff to say about me as well after 15 years.  (At least I hope so! 🙂  But what is true and right is that we stay together and do what needs to be done for our family.  That we stop when the tempers flare and walk alone for just a short time, then come back to hold the hand of the other more gracefully.

Oh wait… I’m not done….  I wanted to note some things…..

Our milestone of an anniversary was spent visiting a town only a couple of hours from home.  There wasn’t a big trip or extravagant gifts not even a fancy hotel, just time alone.  We relaxed in a Comfort Inn, went hiking,  hit the movie theatre and art museum, a nice dinner of course, visited a bakery/donut shop for dessert, spent time talking, and working through some stuff.  Cause even after fifteen years, there’s still that to do on occasion.  Here’s to the rest of our lives!
